Central Asia Embraces the Future of Autonomous Retail
These developments indicate that technologies once considered future-focused are now becoming part of the region’s retail reality.
The beauty sector may be leading this transformation, but the same principles are increasingly relevant across fashion, lifestyle, pharmacy, consumer goods, and other experience-driven retail categories.
Central Asia Embraces the Future of Autonomous Retail
The future of convenience retail—connected, automated, and data-driven—is taking shape in Central Asia. With autonomous retail gaining traction in European markets like Poland, Central Asia is now moving forward with its own smart retail development.
Uzbekistan's national venture fund UzVC has invested $100,000 in TezzGO, a local startup developing AI and computer vision-based cashierless retail systems. Currently, TezzGO has already deployed over 100 smart coolers across Uzbekistan, with plans to expand through a franchise model into neighboring Central Asian markets.
The technology enables customers to shop without queues or cashiers—entering via a mobile app, selecting products, and having payments processed automatically upon exit. This model reduces operational costs, and improves customer experience.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan is also advancing retail innovation.

As retail across the region moves toward self-service experiences and data-driven operations, Central Asia is clearly emerging as a new frontier for next-generation retail modernization.
Retail Show Central Asia 2027 is set to unite retailers and buyers for a dynamic exchange of ideas and business opportunities. The event will serve as a premier platform for exploring emerging market trends and strengthening commercial ties across Central Asia and wider regions.
