Direct Sourcing Boosts Central Asia Fresh Produce Trade 2026
Direct Sourcing from Central Asia is Transforming Fresh Produce Trade
The fresh produce trade in Central Asia is accelerating. Magnit has begun direct vegetable procurement from Uzbekistan, with the first shipment including 17 tonnes of carrots from the Ferghana Valley.
What stands out is not just the shipment itself, but the model behind it. By reducing intermediaries, speeding up delivery, and aligning the supply chain more closely with retail demand, Magnit is shaping a more efficient and responsive sourcing strategy. The company expects to source at least 1,500 tonnes of fruit and vegetables from Uzbekistan under direct contracts in 2026.

For retailers in Central Asia, this signals a notable shift: regional sourcing is emerging as a key driver of growth and operational efficiency.
Hisern International is proud to host the Central Asia Retail Show 2027 in Tashkent, providing a platform that brings together retail leaders and decision-makers from across the region to explore trends, innovations, and opportunities in the evolving retail landscape.
